This is a beautifully restored early 1900s image of Narrow Water Castle and the Newry to Warrenpoint railway lines. Two men are set to row across the water from a nearby pier. The castle was built in the 1560s to secure the centre of Carlingford Lough and to accommodate English soldiers guarding the narrowest point where the Clanrye River flows by. The image has been expertly restored, HD enhanced and colourised. The original print is dated possibly between 1905 and 1915.
