This is a magnificently restored early 1900s photo of the Charlemont Place, situated in The Mall in Armagh. The Mall area is a long grassy expanse east of Armagh's centre. It was once used as a venue for horse-racing, cock-fighting and bull-baiting until the 18th century, when Archbishop Robinson decided that it was all too vulgar for a city of learning, and transformed it into an elegant Georgian park. The image has been expertly restored, HD enhanced and colourised. The original print is dated possibly between 1900 and 1910.
